The Pros and Cons of Bunk Beds For Kids
Bunk beds for kids can be used to create a variety of sleeping arrangements. If your children have their own beds, they may sleep on any available space that is available. If you have two children, each with his or her own bed, then you may want to purchase a triple bunk bed with storage. Here's how to set up this type of bed for your children.
First, set up bunk beds with stairs with the appropriate number of bunks. Place the beds in the corner of a room, so that there are no walls on both sides of the bed (3) Make sure that a child is not under the age of six on the upper bunk. Only one adult should be in the upper bunk at a time, at least. If the beds for kids have drawers underneath, install and use guardrails on top, regardless of what the age of your young child is.
If your bunk beds for kids come with storage, make sure that the storage is above the bunk beds for kids' use. This will allow your child to reach items she needs for her bed without having to go upstairs. If the bunk beds for kids come with a ladder, install one at the end of each bunk bed. This will allow your child to climb up into her bed with ease, instead of having to maneuver across the bottom bunk beds for kids' use. Make sure the ladder is installed securely, as children may be injured if they pull the ladder down.
Pro: Low ceilings make a bunk bed ideal. Bunk beds for kids are a perfect addition to low ceilings. One problem with bunk beds for kids is that if the bottom bunk is not a solid wall, the ceiling will absorb most, if not all, of the bounce that your kid will place on her bunk bed. A bunk bed with low ceilings keeps the entire weight of your child's body off of the bottom bunk, where it will just sit, which reduces the potential for injury. However, if your child is small, you may consider installing a ladder on the lower bunk for easy access to her books and other things.
Pro: When shopping for triple bunk bed, look for storage. Although you might think that this is an unnecessary feature, using storage can save you money and keep you comfortable. Most bunk beds for kids have either a single or double chest with a drawer. If your bunk beds for kids have drawers, install tall shelves that are at least 50 inches tall. These shelves will save you floor space and provide ample storage for your things.
Con: princess bunk bed with no mattress in the bottom bunk can cause sagging. Although you may be tempted to sleep on a mattress that doesn't look so bad underneath the bright orange top bunk, it will fade and look hideous over time. Look for a high quality futon mattress. It will last longer and you won't have to buy another futon mattress when the first one starts to sag.
